Our MissionThe mission of Pilgrim Crossings is to explore Scripture to promote historic Christianity in the modern world, especially to help build up local Presbyterian and Reformed churches within the listening area, and attracting non-Christian listeners to saving faith in Jesus Christ and new Christian listeners to growing in grace. Our mission focuses on developing clearly articulated Christian conviction based on God’s infallible word to fallen humanity. Out of deep respect for the church as God’s people we also seek the wisdom of the Christian tradition in understanding and living out the Scriptures. We believe that the Reformed tradition articulated in the Westminster Confession of Faith, as well as other Reformation creeds, best express that tradition. This should also help us in understanding the world in which we are called to be ambassadors. We seek to fulfill this mission by promoting the proper exposition of the text of Scripture through the daily broadcast of edited sermons. Along with posting MP3 versions of these sermons we are providing literature in the form of essays and articles covering a wide range of subjects as we seek to view the world in which God has placed us through the lens of His Word.
Our Name
“Pilgrim Crossings” communicates the idea of the covenants found in Scripture. It reminds us that we are pilgrims in this world; that here we have “no continuing city.” But we also have a very definite task as God’s people in this world. “Crossings” communicates the cross, which is the motivation and the goal of our pilgrimage. It refers to the Exodus, and the pilgrim attitude of the church. It also represents the intersection between Christianity and culture. “Pilgrim Crossings” is the Divine process of pilgrimage by which children of Adam are transformed into sons of God, so that as a new humanity we may provide an embassy for the Kingdom of Heaven. It is also our conviction that being Christians, being a people of the Book, we must be thoughtful. We will not be satisfied with slogans or slipshod thinking. We are called to worship and serve our Lord with our whole being, heart, mind, soul and strength. Exploring Scripture demands thoughtful engagement with the culture in which God has placed us as the ambassadors of the Lord Jesus Christ. |
